Water Heaters

Water Heaters

A lot of people may be unaware of how important maintenance on a water heater really is. There are many signs and symptoms that a water heater might show before it needs repair. Some of the signs may be:

  • A visible leak around the tank
  • Diminished water quality
  • Water heater is loud/noisy
  • Spike in utility bills

If you notice an increase in your water bill or a decline in your supply of hot water, you may be experiencing a leak in your water heater. Not only can this cause an increase in utility bills but leaking water can also cause damage to the area surrounding the water heater as well. This will also cause the water heater to work harder to heat the remaining water inside the tank because it is losing hot water through the leak.

The life and quality of a water heater will greatly increase with regular maintenance. As time goes on, your water heater naturally starts to fill itself with sediment at the bottom of the tank. Flushing your water heater is the best way to keep the sediment at a minimum and keep your water heater working efficiently. Another process that naturally occurs is the corrosion of the inside of the tank. Not many people are aware of how important the anode rod is to keeping your water heater in it's best condition. As the inside of the tank starts to corrode, it will first eat away at the anode rod. Once the anode rod is completely corroded, the inside of the tank begins to get eaten away as well. Replacing the anode rod on a regular basis will greatly increase the life span of the water heater.

BHI can provide regular maintenance as well as repairs and replacements to better help you increase the life of your water heater. Maintaining your equipment might seem unnecessary at times but will increase the life of your water heater as well as save you from having to replace it as often.
